Capri as a donor?

Hi,

I understand that the Capri has a live axle, is this correct? If so is it the right width for a book +4" chassis, and can it be modded in the same way as in the book?

How about the rest of the car, eg front uprights, propshaft, steering rack etc

Thanks

Well my capri rearaxle is +4 inch (iirc the Escort axle is 48" back plate to back plate mine measures 52" ) there have been some threads regarding the capri as a donor maybe try the search function ?

As far as i can remember its a suitable donor except for the front uprights (use Sierra uprights possibly) and i think you need the escort rack ,but i,m sure someone with more experiance than myself will reply

There'a lot about the capri the capri that you could use.

Axle - my car uses capri
Engine
Gearbox
Clocks - behind a panel in the dash- why not.
You could use the struts cut down -just like sylva did with the striker.
It will have a useful set of brake calipers as well - M16s.
