Help with identification

Help required asap!
I have been looking for a 3.14 diff and it seems the best way of finding one is to buy a whole car as they are very rare (or pay loads on ebay)
I have found a diesel saphire, can i assume all diesels have a 3.14 ratio diff? If not will the vin plate hold the info i need?
Thanks in advance
kenton
