volvo ign key fault
a friend of mine has a 2007 volvo v50 sport, today it will not let him in the car using the remote, having physically used the key to unlock the door it
will not do anything when turned in the ignition.
does anyone know of any tricks to try to try on the key or if there is any other choice than the main stealer?

Is the battery new in the fob ? Sounds like the fob isnt talking to the car.

i believe it was renewed about 4 m onths ago.
update:the car is totally dead when key inserted-no error codes pop up,no lights,no nothing.fob battery replaced again today to rule it out.

My Saab had issues with the alarm module internal battery going downhill, used to cause spurious activations, central locking wobbles etc.
Spare fob tried ?
Looks like a common fault

spare key gives same result,he also put some jump leads on it today to rule out a flat battery.

read that thread, above.
My google search brought up a lot of similar V50 issues, some are talking the door harness as the culprit.

I was lucky with the Saab, as manual use of the key removed some of the alarm function from operating, but at least the key started it...
Modern cars, pain in the derrier. Wouldnt care I quite fancied a V50....

Weve just had the same problem on one of our Vito vans. Cost £1200 to fix it!
