Escort steering column
Hi all
I am trying to use as much from the donor escort as possible and on tripping the steering column, I cannot see anything which could be described as
impact absorbing. There appears to be a corrugated section (looks like a steel bellows) on the lower end of the steering wheel boss which looks as
though it could compress in the event of an accident.
Am I correct in assuming that this is the case, and if so, is this acceptable for the SVA?
Any comment kindly received.
Thanks

i have the same, it is just a solid shaft. i think tho if you have an angle of more than 10 degrees of the main part of the column thats ok. not sure
if that's 10 degrees of the main shaft to the ground, or the angle at the top uj of the assembly.
even if that ok by SVA standards, you can fit a collapsible steering wheel boss to absorb impact in the case of an accident, which it sounds like
yours might be - a lot of steering bosses have a corrugated outer tho

if you don't fail, you aren't trying hard enough.
