Is vernier pulls needed with mega jolt ?

Hi all.
I'm I'm the processes of up gradeing the top end of my pinto.
New head. Slabing the head and New fast road cam kit.
At the moment I have a standard cam pully with a mega jolt .
If I fit new cam Will i need the vernier pully to set cam timing. Or will a trip to the rolling road (already planned) sort this issue

Yes you need a vernier pulley (or some way of achieving the same result) to be able to adjust cam timing.

Cheers

Yup you'll need a vernier pulley to set cam timing correctly. Don't waste you're money on the silly ally pulley's either they're just for show, you need the steel pulley as the extra mass helps to dampen out the increase in stab loads and give your timing belt an easier time, while on the subject of belts, its been a long time since you could get a genuine Ford belt and most aftermarket ones are a bit week, go for a Burton belt - its what I use. They may be more expensive but when the cheap belt snaps thats game over for your engine

Good thing about the Pinto is that unless you have heavily skimmed the head or decked the block and have a very high lift cam, it's not an interference engine.
The valves won't hit the piston if the belt breaks.
I use the ally pulley but always use a good Gates belt.
I have found pulleys at auto jumbles and swap meets at good prices, have used home made ones with succes and have researched offset woodruf keys, cheap and easy enough but difficult to get one for a Pinto and a pain to set up properly, at least with a vernier the rolling road can swing the cam for best torque.
