Cortina mk3?????
Im really stuck. i have the chance of a mk3 cortina. how much use would this be to me, could i use everything from this one car? if possible i would
like to stick as close to the book as possible.

it has been said that a mk3 cortina is the best donor,
front uprights, correct width axle plus a whole host of other stuff.

think you will find its a mk4 or mk5 thats seen to be best donor..... mk3 have all rusted away - were the coke bottle styled ones

when they were still made they were rusting. it was said that a lot of the cars / panels hung around during a strike.
they were real rust buckets. quite an interesting car nowadays tho...

there is somthing about that coke bottle look of the mk1 capri and escort and the mk3 tina, as soon as i can afford it i am going to get a mk1 capri
and put a 302 in it and paint it in gulf colours (if anyone has this months ppc you will know what i mean)

The V8 into a Mk1 Capri conversion was covered in Practical Classics mag a year or two ago. If I remember rightly the sump fouled the steering column
and lots of the usual small things needed sorted. Might be worth a look before launching into it

Mk3's, 4's, and 5's are pretty much the same mechanically-especially the running gear. With a Mk3, you might be able to recoup some
of your initial purchase price by flogging any bits you dont want in the classic car mags...
Besides, most of the 4's and 5's have rusted away now too. Not that it matters, because the rusty bits arent needed anyway...
Dont just build it.....make it!
