Borescope in operation

Just to put forward a video taken with my £10 borescope (another thread about them was raised a while ago), having taken this car off the road after it started spitting oil out of the dipstick.... Anyone spot anything I've missed?

I fixed a breather which seemed a little kinked (PCV) which won't have helped, but this car only spits as I come off the gas and the revs drop to idle. I wondered if I'd toasted the ringlands/crowns as I have noticed the occasional pretty spectacular det sound but I can't see any obvious pitting to the top of the crowns here.

Cant see the video due to server restrictions here, but I bought one of those scopes and had a go looking down bores......fantastic aren't they?! I was very pleased with the clarity, will come in handy for alsorts (checking internals of potential rusty box sections etc).

Definatly a useful gadget but can't help thinking sooner or later temptation will get you and you'll end up sticking it somewhere 'wrong'!

looks to me like cyl 3 is massivelly less coked than the rest. The crown of the piston is VERY clean.

I might get me one of them scope thingys that is so cool.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Thanks, someone got to the link before me

Yes, cyl 3 is very much cleaner (cyl 2 isn't bad, the other two are more coked). Cyl 2 in this video (cyl 3 in the real engine layout IIRC) is the one that normally runs lean on these cars and dies first (due to positioning and flow of the throttle). the engine use before this test was:
Driven like a nut for about 30 minutes.
Sat still for 6 months.
Idled up to temp for 20 minutes about a week prior to this test.
This test.

Plugs in all 4 cyls are fairly carboned up from the extended rich idling, I'm surprised the pistons are as clean as they are.

Considering the audible knock the engine suffered in the days prior to coming off the road, I don't see much sign of it.

J
