Sierra Handbrake cable - Advice wanted
Hi,
I have laid down my handbrake cable from the Sierra donor. My diff/shafts are from a 2.0L but I am converting to discs with Cosworth
Calipers/discs and cable. The cable runs very long nearly up to the dashborad (well about a foot away). Do I need to shorten it? If yes how? Any shots
of what would be the best way to route the cable avoiding teh propshaft? Can I use a handbrake from another source other than a Sierra?
Cheers
Philip

You can shorten it... use a clasp to secure back to the rear caliper or a number of guys cut it then shorten then re-join using one of those
specialist cable joining clamp.

Cable mods
I have just done the same job, and it turned out OK. The outer cable was just the right length, running from the rear bulkhead, looped above the
shafts, and into the hub. The inner had to be shortened quite a bit, I just cut one of the fittings of, drilled out the cable from it , cut the inner
to length, pushed it into the drilled out end with a dab of araldite, and re-crimped it. Works a treat.
