Question about Granada Scorpio
i have searched and read a lot of posts about the granada. but they did not seem to state if it was suitable or not. a few people were saying that the
halfshafts were too long, but some others suggested that they should fit. anyone know ? oh by the way i meen for a luego chassis. i am lloking at the
granda scorpio as i am going to be building an automatic and there are a lot of auto granads at a good price but not many sierras. also anyone know if
the front uprights are the same as the sierra ?

Bolt pattern is 5 stud on the Grandads...
They have a wider track width, but i dont know by how much.
Front uprights are different AFAIK.
Why do you want an auto? Seems mad in a locost...(lots of extra weight as well)

Slightly off topic but if you do need an auto granada, i am possibly getting rid of mine in the next couple of weeks..its a 2.9i auto ghia on an f
plate and will be cheap and is still mot'd and runs like a dream !
If your interested let me know..

IIRC the Granada has a 1" wider track.
If there's enough 'give' in the CVs then you might get away with compressing them an extra 1"- I'd ask Luego about
that.
Flak is right about the 5 stud- they're also an odd pattern. When I was considering a Grandad I asked in a tuning place about alloys and the
only compatible ones they could find were Mercedes ones! They may have got that wrong of course! Or you may love Mercedes wheels and fancy trying
them! 
What about taking the automatic gearbox from a Grandad and mating it to a Sierra donor?

Thats gonna be well relaxed and chilled out to drive! Nice.
Well I got my locost rolling last week and lined up against the back of my granada scorpio and theres very little in the rear track difference - if
anything at all.
As for the rear - why not run sierra rear diff and shafts and granada prop, box and engine?
Kinda ruins the single donor thing but Mr SVA need never know that - unless he knows his 7" diffs from his 7.5"??
As for the bolt pattern they are 112x5 which aint that weird James! That lets you run all the new mondeo wheels and gives you a fair choice over about
14" in steel and alloy!
Good luck with the build - an intersting one difinately! Re: the auto box though - if you get a chance to drive your donor granada before you break it
- check how long it takes to go into reverse - if its ages, apparently that means they're on the way out - and smell the tranny fluid too - if
that smells "burnt" its probly bad news!
Cossie Autos are best - stronger internals and coolers for tranny fluid!

The Why on the auto
I only have an auto license so can not drive a manual ! as to the wheels loads available in 5 stud. thanks for the info.
and to Andybarbet thanks for the offer but i need to wait a month or so as i am moving hose at the moment. getting a house with a garage longer than
the back garden (38 foot) a previous owner used it to repair leather sports car seats so it is all dry and well decked out with power and double
glazing

It'd be less effort (and more useful!) to upgrade your license than fit the auto!

Front Hubs are a problem.
The Uprights are different.
I have seen this mod done so I know it works.
Get Sierra front Uprights, take the Granny ones and strip. Take the Granny stub shafts and get them professionally turned down to fit the Sierra
Bearings and uprights. This way you get the right steering geometry and retain 5 stud wheels all round. There was a guy at Luego with this setup, on
the open day.
Luego Do NOT recomend this as its a lot of work for not a lot of gain. I asked when I was thinking of my build, as I had a 2.9 granny on offer for
£100. (Its still for sale!)
The Granny engines are nice but not very tuneable. they are also a bit on the heavy side. Still in a Locost, thy should shift fairly well.
I had a 2.8 Capri engine in my Lightweight Landrover, and it went like Pooh off a shovel, a nice revvy engine. Still a bit heavy, but did go nicely
for a 1.5 ton motor!.

Scanning old posts I know, but I have have just written off 2 scorpio's, they are 4 stud wheels 6x15ET49.5, Rear suspension looks more suitable
for Locost IRS than the sierra, front end look no less suitable.
The engine is BIG, but a McSorely 4+4 would seem ideal

scorpio ultima is only a trim level derivative, these were both 2.0 TC Ghias
