Declared Sorn

I declared my donor SORN when i stripped itto retain the V5. I know i have to renew the sorn declaration every 12 months. Does DVLA send out a reminder or do you have to remember?

Im trying to avoid the fine. How much is it?

It's £80 but I think you'll get a reminder when it's due

Has it been scrapped now? If so, let them know and you won't have to declare it SORN any more. You still get to keep most of the V5 so you can still prove that you owned the donor before it went to the big scrapheap in the sky.

I dont want to declare it as scrapped yet as im thinking about doing an engine change. I havent decided if i want a Q or the H-reg age related. At least the Q isnt age related and i cant hide the fact that it is a kit car anyway so nothing lost. H plate would suggest it is 13 years old!

DVLA website quotes the form to use for renewing SORN application but doesntsay if you get a reminder. It suggests that SORN still applies.

"How to renew a SORN declaration
SORN declarations are valid for 12 months and must be renewed, if the vehicle is kept off the road for a further period. SORN can be renewed by completing the V11, V85/1 or if these are not available a V890 SORN form can be used and is available for download from the vehicle forms link above."

Has anyone had a SORN reminder?

Ask them by email. It's as easy as copying the text in your post and it works, they do answer!

They have always sent reminders for my SORN cars and they allow you to re-SORN by phone which is effortless.

SORN

DVLA or whatever they callthemselves now send out a reminder. You just take it to your post office and they deal with it electronically. Mine was 3 weeks late with no problems.
