Scrap Merchant in Surrey?
Anyone know of a scrap dealer in the Surrey area (i'm in Addlestone) that'll pick up a shell for free/not much? The only ones I know of
are vehicle dismantlers, they tend to charge about £40 to take away a rolling car, let alone a virtually bare shell

i'm in guildford and stripped a 106 late last year. i rang round a few local places until i found one that'd take it for free (figured the
steel'd be worth enough to em once weighed in) afraid I can't remember who it was that took it in the end. Local council's normally
offer free collection of scrap cars, only i seem to recall some stipulation that it was near complete or on wheels or something, worth a check on the
local council website/give em a bell.
Ned.
beware, I've got yellow skin

I can't dump it, I can't shift it without it having little things like wheels
I'm pretty sure you're right about the council wanting cars to be moveable Ned, but i'll give them a bell anyway I suppose. Only
worry with them is it'l probably take a couple of weeks for them to turn up, can't really leave it in front of the garage for that long
(it's in the middle of a communal block) and i've got nowhere else to dismantle it.
Will keep ringing around tomorrow I suppose...

There used to be a scrap yard in either Byfleet or West Byfleet (thinking Byfleet). If not there used to be one in Send.
But not lived there a while, so i checked the yellow pages:

Bit far from Addlestone but Aldershot Car Spares took away my empty Sierra shell.
Think it cost £40 but that was when scrap value was £7 a ton. It's gone up since!
Cheers,
James

Still haven't shifted it Saw a number on a sign at the traffic lights by Walton Bridge, looked quite promising but the bloke keeps saying
he'll call back and let me know when he is coming over, and never does
Will have to get the phonebook out and start ringing around again, neighbours are probably going to start getting cranky if it isn't gone
soon...

If poo hits fan my old local council (woking) used to remove a lot.
its a kerbside collection like the rubbish but for reasons of data protection and to avoid identity theft they request that you remove all engine
numbers, chassis numbers, reg plates etc.
You simply put it out last thingat night (with the cat) and theyll come round within 2weeks i think it is!

Well, after a good hour of phoning all the numbers in the local paper only to find out they were all grumpy shites in Croydon who didn't want to
come that far, I finally gave up and paid 40 quid for a local guy to take it away. Hey ho, at least it's gone now and the neighbours won't
moan.
One down, one more to go...
