Exhaust - can I galvanise

The exhaust from the manifold to the silencer section.

Can they be galvanised ?

Its cheaper than coating or chrome. I already have it and don't want to fork out for a SS section.

How hot before zinc gives off nasty fumes? And what are they?

Zinc Oxide primarily, I'd imagine it'd have to get pretty hot to produce it though. Not fatal but gives you nasty flu type symptoms.

I think it's safe to assume that if it worked on exhausts the major manufacturers would already be doing it, a lot of them galvanize their chassis after all.
