Value of a Cortina..
I met a bloke today with a taxed and MOT'd X reg Cortina 2L. He said he's looking to sell it around the end of July because he's
getting on a bit and had a fender bender recently and doesn't think he should be driving. he said he wants £150 for it.
I think we want to go rover v8 and dedion suspension, hopefully get hold of a sierra donor car for most stuff. Just wondering what bits I might want
off a cortina, whether it would be worth taking this one.. hubs might be useful, or something, not sure what other bits.
can anyone think what kind of bits I might want off it? if it's just the hubs I suppose I might as well just invesigate the sierra hub
adapters.
If you're near Reading though, let me know and if I figure I don't want it I'll give you his number

Cortina prices are on the up, and not just because we're all nicking the front uprights!!!
2 mk 5's in this months classic ford for £1000+. Remember when you couldn't shift for'em, how many do you see these days?
you don't really need any cortina bits now, as you say you can use sierra uprights, and if you want cortina ones they run at about £50-£75 so if
that's all you want offer him £50.
Cheers
Chris
Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Check the price these went for, admittedly they do have new calipers and disks.

I'm sure I'll upset a few people here so I'm sorry but I think the Cortina uprights are so much more elegant than the Sierra
uprights which looks so heavy and clumsy by comparison.
Just my opinion for what it's worth.
BTW, I got my Cortina uprights for £45 from a fellow LB forum user which I think is a fair price for uprights, discs, hubs and calipers in good
condition.
Cheers,
Craig.

I think I might give it a miss, for now at least. unless the poor bugger will take £50 for it.
If anyone else wants it for more let me know and you can have his phone number.

Cortina mk3/4/5 are a good complete donor, the extra width of the rear axle fills the arches out nice.
And if your looking for the +4" chassis its just right

The question is, can I be arsed to run a sideline in parting out one car as well as building another? I think dismantling a sierra is enough on my
plate for now.
but the little green dollar signs are ticking. how much do axles go for?

Can somebody confirm that the 2L Cortina diff has the 3.54 ratio, rather than the 3.89 used in 1.6L?
If so, I would buy the axle from you to swap the gears over to give me a little more top end.

not looking too economical to break this old cortina just for the uprights and part out the rest, plus doubt housemates would be too gleeful about two
decomposing cars on the drive, one will be cheeky enough.
