Yes, its a V8. The baby V8 of the range. They also did a 5.7l V8 and a 3.8l V6.

Any idea on power, and what box will it fit??

I can have the whole car for next to nothing, its also running injection and its an 83 model.

it has just had a performance 700r4 transmission(auto) and a 2000 stall torque converter, also has a rebuilt rear axle.

It depends on the model of the engine, there were several floating around at the time. But it should be an L69 engine in that if its an '83. so will be about 190bhp ish, and around 250 lb.ft torque.

Cant say for sure but an 83 should have under 200hp and a t5 would have been an option for it.

our receptionist at work has one in his montecarlo, 110bhp, 3:1 compression ratio, revs to nearly 4000rpm when warm (it never is!). I does 0-60 in a weekend and the speedo only goes to 80mph

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

The 307 had a low compression ratio eco version which was 115bhp (one a good day) and was terribly unreliable. It was dumped in 1983 for the 305 small block which has the specs as i mentioned above.
