Donor car costs?

Hi all, just wandering how much did/will you pay for your donor car?
Just curious as to what the going rate is for a Ford sierra either with or without an MOT, guessing that without a MOT is cheaper.
Many thanks chaps.

£75 and the seller drove it from Hartlepool to Washington Services for me.

And it had tax on it, half a tank of gas etc etc.

a budget of £150 -£200 would get a pretty decent donor with an MOT

sierras are avaliable much cheaper (under £70 or even free) But its not nececarly a good idea as it may need lots of work to become a suitable donor

Its basically what ever you want to pay, ok you can get a dirt cheap car now but in the future you may have to shell out for keeping the drivetrain in check wheras an extra £100 spent now could save lots of bother later

unfortuantley i cant give an example because i havent started building yet (if i had my way i would have started well over a year ago )

i paid (will pay) just under 500 quid for mine..

well saying that the owner is stripping it all down as the shell is pretty much unuseable anyway to make it easier for me to get the bits back home.

500 seems a lot but it's a JDM Honda 2.2 VTEC (H22 - 220bhp) engine/box/loom/driveshafts/calipers/steering column/rack/hubs/handrake/etc etc..

practically everything except it's pre-stripped for me

Thanks for all that guys, the main reason i'm asking is that i can gat a fairly regular supply of sierra's in good mechanical order but with panel damage for about £150-£200, so if anyone is looking then i may be able to help.

Scotty,
I'd be delighted to take a sierra from you for £200. I'm looking for a 2 litre pinto engined car. I assume looking at the other posts above, that cars are usually deliverd by the existing owner to the kit builder. U2U me if your up for that and I'll give u my address

I paid about 500 in your money, $1000 in ours, for a 1984 Celica GTS that I used about two bolts off of, and that was ALL - couldn't even use the handbrake. I also had to pay someone to help me strip it (I didn't have the room, nor the heated garage - it was minus 10 - 30 last winter when I got the car), and had the tranny rebuilt. I also bought a whole gasket kit for the engine. All in, I have calculated about $2800 of unnecessary purchases for a useless donor, not including the $100 I got for selling the alu rims to an autocrosser with a Corolla. So I have everyone beat for biggest waste of money! Yes, I learned a lot, and I am sure it will all be worth it in the end. No, I don't know what I was thinking - my brain froze obviously.

It does remain to be seen if I can get the engine and trans sold.
