S1 RS turbo engine

Is there anyone out there who has fitted a 1.6 CVH turbo unit to there 7 rep?. i am thinking of using it as my donor engine, when i build my Aries. good and bad points please...

Welcome aboard!

There are several people on here who've fitted CVH engines (surrey dave for one), but don't know of any CVH turbo installs.

That said there are also people on here with YB Cosworth turbo motors installed (Hicost for one) so I can't see why a bit of ineguity wouldn't get the CVH turbo fitted.

Some people question the logic of a turb charged engine in such a light RWD car. something to do with boost kicking in mid-bend and throwing you into the hedge. Probably more a case of learning how to drive the car (as with any car).

I say go for it - particularly if you have a known good engine waiting to go in.

Thanks for the info.. and to the question of why have a turbo engine..... back in the day i was a big RS turbo fan and love the kick in the ass you get and the sound of the dump valve and turbo whistle .
It may have to be replaced in 6 months if it proves unusable.
