Stripping the donor!
started stripping the donor this weekend got quite a lot out and the engine (2l DOHC ) is actually starting to look not quite so large after all,
however as we were trying to get the bolts off the prop shaft the shaft was turning, but we had one of the rear wheels firmly on the ground and the
other in the air - with a LSD shouldnt the diff lock up or somthing? when the prop was turning, the wheel in the air was turning freely and the one on
the ground not moving or trying to move at all.... i have a xr4x4i btw have i not got a LSD?
thanks al

Limited slip diff = limited amount of turning allowed, especially at low revs that you are likely to encounter just undoing thing.
Locked Diff = Locked/no turning.
hope this helps.

simple check (though not perfect) is how the shafts fit into the diff....
If the are slide in shafts then it is not an LSD. If they bolt on to flanges then it probably is....

Mmmmnnn i have bolt on shafts as taken from a 2L sierra GLSi and its an open diff.
Anyway
With both rear wheels in the air spin a wheel/hub and the opposite wheel will spin the same direction if LSD,it will spin in opposite direction if
open diff(non LSD)

Got to admit i was a bit peeved when i found the car as i thought it might be LSD, but hey ho.
I think the diesels had bolt on with open diffs as well, its typical of ford to have a right hit and miss match of parts.
I just found out that the 1.6 sierra economy has the sought after 3.38 or whatever it is BEC chosen tool, but only the 4 speed sierras.
