Hello all
Long time reader on this forum, and now finally registered with a first post
Ive been planning a mid engine project for a while and this forum has alot of great information and i am learning a great deal from it. (and planning
this is MUCH MUCH harder than i had imagined)
Little bit bout my self, use to own a mk1 mr2 supercharged back in the United States

moved to Vietnam for work reason and really really miss driving, as scooter is main mode of transportation here. So decide , hell why not try make my
own car.
Power plant will "hopefully" be a 3sge beams redtop that I acquired long ago hoping to swap into a second mk1 mr2, but the move to Vietnam
stopped the project. sold my mr2 and now i have a rear clip sitting at friend's house. Working out the detail of getting that shipped here for
new project at the moment.
And.. since this is my first post, a lil extra for all to get on everyone's good side
pics i took during Singapore F1, (sorry dunno how to post pic yet) my poor photographing skills really dont do justice but these cars should be nice
to look at regardless

Good luck and welcome
Hi and welcome to the board!
I would have thought that importing the engine would be a major hassle, paperwork, duty and under the desk payments to make happen, is that not the
case?
Good luck anyway!
that is the case actually. under the desk payment is the biggest factor really haha. Thing is its almost impossible to do this alone, but i got a few friends in the used car importing business looking into it for me. When its confirm that paperwork and all the hassle can be overcome, they will just throw the engine in one of their container for me
Good Luck and Welcome.
Very good luck and welcome!!
Where are you from in the states? I used to live there, in Oklahoma.
use to live in Cali, the state with all the hates for cars
too true, okie is right at the other end of the scale. The car I was building there would certainley not have been 50 state legal
Hey up, welcome to the loony bin.
Cheers,
Bob
hello & welcome!
Under the desk or not China will not let you bring second hand engines or transmissions into the country - they state pollution reasons (in China? yeah right) but it's to protect their industries as a whole. What a fuss there was when I bought an upright in my suitcase last trip because it had a bearing in it still. Don't know about relationship there but you had better find a top Guy to take to dinner if thats your plan otherwise you end up paying one small Guy after the next along the chain.
yup its pretty similar, in some ways easier than China, from what ive heard money works alot better here than China, gov workers are very underpaid
apparently.
but im counting the possibility of this plan not going through, and in that case id have to look for local sources... which limits me to either a
Honda civic engine or the Honda CRV engine.
Hello & Welcome , best of luck in your endeavours.
