I have an issue with my bodywork and engine package.
Basically I'm committed to doing a middy with a T5 and M56 gearbox with the pictured bodywork.
The engine package is just too wide to fit the bodywork width, the rear uprights interfere with the gearbox and engine. Essentially I have to make
the track width wider (as it was in the doner).
This leaves me with either whacking great arches (would that look stupid?) or split and widen the entire bodywork (a lot of work) what are your
thoughts?

big phat arches
oh yeh oh yeh
arches would be easiest option and could still look cool
bubble arched maybe?
How much wider?
Have you got a photo of the whole bodywork put together?
I don't have a definitive number but it might be up to 4" either side.
I have this photo which is the same bodywork except that my bodywork has been lengthened in the arse.
small westy
Should be a relatively easy shape to split and widen...
Take a mould of centre section.
Split.
Widen
Screw Mould over gap
Glass it up.
Remove mould.
Job done.
phat arches = 4x the work
split body = 2x the work
Yup, could do that

Is that genuine Westfield body-work? Could be worth your while taking moulds of that, just in case you damage any panels, not suggesting you could
sell, maybe bodies. . . . . . . . . .

Split and widen would be my choice.
Cut a wavy lines as it makes the joins longer/stronger and its easier to blend in.
4inches each side is a lot.
Big arches won't look good with that shape (as you say). Split and widen. It will look absolutely awesome.
Its a job you only want to do once though, so worth getting the precise width before you widen the bodywork.
Matt
Getting the precise width is not a problem, I'll be building the chassis first anyway
it actually makes things easier if I'm fitting the body work to an existing chassis
What's the total width?, will it fit on your trailer etc.

Wasnt there I guy fitting the t5 to a kit and used a much narrower Ford Rs gearbox ? I am sure it was in the PPC mag last time I picked one up.
