Took a mad notion and bought this box of bits..
Its based on a March F3 Chassis clad in Stiletto/ imp bodywork... it originally had a BDA in it, but then later was converted to 1600 8v Vauxhall..
It needs ALOT of sorted, it will be a long term project as im TR8 & Race Megablade are taking up alot of time and Space at the moment.
Dont want to go bike engined for this project, im thinking s2000 or 2L Redtop tuned mated to the MK9 Hewland? try and keep it under 500kgs.
Anyway some pics - its in a sorry state!
And how it used to look -
This is a LONG term project for me, until then it will be Garage Furniture!

How about a subaru power?.....Looks like a nice flat 4 would sit nicely in that chassis. Other options that spring to mind would be a ford cosworth v6
from a Granada, or (depending on the weight) a busa.

theres been at least 2 or 3 similar Imps running last year in the CSCC Special Saloons championship. Martyn Baker was running a black one and there
was a red one regularly out, both used imp-based engines iirc.
there were a few that ran on sprints and hills, all ex Modsports, a few of which used bike power.
contact CSCC special saloons co-ordinator and im sure they will put you in touch, or try Uphillracers forum or the Ten-Tenths forums. In fact,
i'll bet someone on ten tenths will know the car, lots of exWendy Wools and Modpsorts/Silhouettes guys on there
or sell it me cheap always loved Modsports cars
if you want to read up, google Macquire Imps as they built laods 'back in the day' also Davrian too

Gets my vote, that had to be bought.
Don't think Mk8/9 hewlands are particularly happy at those power/torque figures. Might be worth some investigation. Not sure how much stronger the F3 variant is but might be worth considering (5-speed, MK5)
ah, of course, Ireland has got more than its fair share!
have a look on ten-tenths under the chassis section, some of the trails of cars aon there are amazing, todays barn find, tomorrow you are in touch
with 10 previous owners and pics galore! really fascinating although a great way to lose 3-4 hours if you arent careful lol.
There used to be an Imp engined club that ran a series on hills sprints over here, and that had rawlsons, macquires etc al along with Clans and other
stuff too.
i think i recognise that color scheme from Racecarsdirect 4-5 years ago, although there was an all black one that either went to ireland or
was in ireland, cant remember.
will see if i can find some pics on the hard drive
post up pics as you get into it, cracking car
pics of cars at CSCC last year

wrigley engineering imp behind (green/white/black)
That would most likely be les Campbell's maguire with the Fireblade engine in the back?
It went to a guy I know, mark steed.. It's since gone to guernsey he was telling me on Saturday!

As you have a nice big engine bay how about using a car diff connected to the bike engine. You could directly conect the diff to the engine or shove the engine as far forward as possible and run a short drive shaft to the diff.

Engine/ diff setup would be cheaper than car engine/ hewland thats for sure! but it would likely be quite heavy.
Miles off making decisions yet i suppose :/ i think i bike engine in this certainly wouldn't be very competitive in the radical class! i will have to try and work out what i plan to do with it!
If money is tight forget the hewland box, just get an old VAG car with FWD and an inline engine and drop the lot in to get going.
Plenty of V6 passat's for pennies out there, then bung on a turbo for more oomph.

hewland mk9 only really are suitable with 13 inch alloys also ..... you can get billet side cases to strengthen them up .
if you want to do it properly , then youll have to pay for decent box , anything else will be a hindrance in a pukka mid engined race car , look at
staffs , elite , etc ....
also
www.darriancars.co.uk for bodywork and davrian stiletto parts ...
If anyone is interested I'm selling this project for £850.
I haven't got time to work on it and I'm buying something ready to race.
