Well, the DVLA came through as they said they would, even if they are all a bit mad ;-)

Stoneleigh on Monday.

Now I need to get a suitable boss and steering wheel so that I can fit my fancy new one off screen and stop my bloody eyes watering!!

1-off screen??

matt_gsxr - 2/5/13 at 11:02 PM

JPSC area is up by the phone masts adjacent to the Royale area. The normal spot.

I think that it isn't marked on the guides, but that is where we will be.

Yes the screen is a one off so far. If you look at Jeremy's red demo car, he has bolted on an extension piece in front of his head.

This screen is the full height of that extension piece all the way across. It's as tall as the mould will make. It may upset the MOT boys next year but I'll cross that bridge.......

The corners are radiused to finish them of as there are no side screens to be added. I thought that I would end up knocking them off getting in and out!!

Where did you get that screen? looks great.

Im still waiting for my DVLA to sort out tax and registration

Did you paint / cover the inside if the central tub?. from the pics is looks black...what did you cover it with?. Car looks bloody fab by the way.

Paul AS - 3/5/13 at 09:29 AM

I talked the screen idea through with Jeremy and he had his usual supplier make it up from a very simple drawing. They then despatched it straight to me - Jeremy has never seen it, only the pictures. Its about 30mm taller than Jeremys screen and had the corners rounded.

A 350mm Ford steering wheel is not dished enough, and too big to get my hands behind the screen. A boss and a smaller wheel on the shopping list for the weekend.

I brush painted the inside of the tub with some amazing marine paint called Jotun Conseal Touch-up, from

www.smlpaintsandcoatings.co.uk

It's a single coat black brush finish and smoothes out really nicely.

monkeyarms - 3/5/13 at 09:37 AM

Thanks, I was thinking of going to jeremys to get a screen this weekend, but the sound of the extended one appeals to me so i might talk to jeremy about it.

How much was it, if you dont mind?

Paul AS - 3/5/13 at 09:40 AM

Honestly no idea - he hasn't got the invoice, and you know what he's like, didn't think to ask!

I'm expecting around £200 - £250.

Mines in Huddersfield so you're welcome to come and have a look at it, if that helps. It won't be fitted for Stoneleigh.

monkeyarms - 3/5/13 at 09:49 AM

Thanks for the offer to look. I was hoping to sort it this weekend (if DVLA sort out my registration )

I wont be going to The show, got other things on at the weekend.

I will chat to Jeremy later today.

Cheers

As the others have said on here, that is one beautiful car.

By the way, are you aware that if you have only just IVA'd and registered it, your first MOT is in 3 years, not 12 months?

Can you give me a general idea where that is on this map?

Next to the Royale bunch which I believe is just south of Equine area in block 10.

Is that true? i thought it was 1 year as it is not a "new build" Got a link for that?

Mine is not a new build, either. As long as you didn't do anything daft like take it for an MOT (which puts you into the annual MOT system) before you took it for its IVA, it is classed as a 'new' car and hence it is 3 years. Mine is 2 and a bit years old ( taxed each year - so if it had no MOT they wouldn't allow it to be taxed ). Its first MOT is in Feb next year.

I have just posted a question under IVA / Legal part of the forum to get some confirmation for you.

monkeyarms - 3/5/13 at 04:30 PM

Just out of interest, the reg plate rules require it to be mounted as close to vertical as possible, how do you hope to avoid Mr Plod? They may make you make a set of brackets for lower on the front?

Paul AS - 13/5/13 at 12:15 PM

Fair comment on the vertical number plate mounting. I have no answer other than the little boy lost pleading ignorance defence.

To be fair, I don't think most policemen would be that bothered (or aware of the rules) as long as they could read it clearly.

There are loads of these about and I have honestly never heard of anyone actually being "done" over this issue. Fingers crossed.
