new scratchbuit, mockup

working late at the shop on my buddies car, that I'd share this pic of his one off scratchbuilt car, made from 1 1/2 square tube. I personally think its a little short in wheelbase, and center of gravity is hi, but its workable.

actually its just a frame we built to hold the engine and tranny salvaged from his last project that burnt up, its a j-spec 3rd gen 3sgte (toyota) tan he had in a first generation MR2
we were woking late on his alltrac and things got a little silly.

pulled the engine from his burnt up gen 1 MR2, we had only dropped it in there 2 weeks before.

the engine cradle has the radiator left over from amy VW golf, we've plumbed it up for cooling, and wired it up with a megasquirt FI system, its all together and we'll be firing it tonight.

then we begin looking for another MR2 to stick it in.

got it running and tuned, I love how easy working with megasquirt is

That was a black first gen MR2 right?

I saw it run at Race City before it went up in flames, damn that thing was fast!!

I think your mockup needs alittle work, like a real seat for starters

Is that a caster you are using for 4th wheel? I am a bit worried about how your gonna set up your suspension geometry.

yes this is the one, getting a new body over the winter, he just picked up an '86 to drop it in.

at race city we had only just got it buttoned down, still had to deal with heatsoak issues, which robbed huge power the last 1/3 of the track, it'll be getting air 2 water this time around, plus with standalone we'll be able to get a little more power out of it.
