I'm interested in using this motor in a middie, but it's not nearly as common in the USA as it is over there, so there isn't tons of aftermarket support. I'd like to know if anyone is aware of an adaptor to fit one up in longitudinal configuration? The Subaru tranny is a bit long, but the Porsche G86 /Audi 012 would fit my application nicely.

I understand and largely agree with your view. Until now, I'd been eyeing a K24a2 in transverse configuration, but this is kind of a tribute
build. The original motor was a 1 liter Abarth/Fiat, and I like the idea of having something that's more visually reminiscent, as well as the
same displacement:
With a 1l engine there are a few more possibilities. My favorite would be the box from a lancia fulvia - 5 speed version (if you can find one). Failing that an early Hewland/VW box

The 1L ecoboost is a very tall thing, much taller than the little fiat engine..
But very light and just use it with its own gearbox???

Height really isn't an issue. The original Abarth four banger had a unique intake configuration where the ports were on top of the head, which
made for a very tall motor/intake combo.
As for adapters, there are several US companies who make adapters to bolt Chevy V8s onto the G86/012 but I don't know of any that do so for the
small Fords. Most Veedub Trannys are only four gears and too weak, and the Porsche 901/915/G50 are all pretty pricey, whereas the Audi boxes are all
over the place and cheap. As I mentioned, I'd like to do the traditional longitudinal layout, and the Abarth's engine bay just isn't
that long.

I found an artical on pistonheads from 2012, which shows a 1l ecoboost in a 7 type car.
