GM 3.1 liter donor for middy?

The 3.1/3.4 liter V6 from the Pontiac Grand Am/Sunfire.

These being extremely common and cheap cars in the U.S. the thought of making a middy with one has crossed my mind.

is it possible to mount one of the GM FWD setups easily to run as a middy?

I think that it's pretty much what Pontiac did in the Fiero (6 cyl version of course). They added a toe adjusting link to stop the steering.
Research the Fiero for lots of clues and info.

Yup, you remove the steering rack and connect the now-free tie-rod links to the chassis.
