What do people think of the R1OT? Done a search on here and can find very few comments.

Nice from the front but a tad strange at the back...otherwise ok
I think it looks good too and considered getting one. I liked the idea of an ultra lightweight, mid R1 engined car with efficient chain drive but when I spoke to them it was not clear to me whether the bike engined version could get through SVA and there was no reverse option - though things may have moved on now. I went for an MNR.
I supplied an engine to a fella who has just started building one....
seems happy with the kit so far

I'd say "a tad strange from the back" is a polite way of putting it, but then again, it won't be the view I'll see. I admit
their SE demonstrator doesn't do it for me, but I love the look the original has with the shoulder bar and roll bar bracing.
Hopefully, there will be at least one R1 powered example SVA'd by the end of the year

My only concern is that in even a mild side impact, that bar seens just right to cause serious head injury...
I like it very much, it's a very clean, simple and tidy car and looks effective.
It was the r1ot that finaly persuaded me to build a kit car. I was put off by it not having an SVA at the time. Also, I learned that a normal front engined BEC can have better weight distribution as the r1ot is slightly rear heavy. In the end I went for the VortX as I thought that the GRP was the best. I couldn't split it any other way between a few different sevens.
presumably the zetec engined RIOT has no SVA problems.
If I had one I would want to fit a seven style windscreen. I think the car's styling would look more balanced with a windscreen.
So what's exactly the problem with the R1 engined R1ot as to SVA? I thought you didn't need a reverse to pass SVA, so what is it? (BTW we do need a reverse to get a car approved in Spain.)

having built a striker and a fury the r10t is well thought out and fairly easy to build,the only bit that i found tricky was making the scuttle which i am still not happy with ,the car looks far better in the flesh than in pictures,and if it lives up to sylvas reputation it could be the best handeling sylva yet?

I may be missing the point here but it seems to me that in the event of a side impact the offending car's nose (or bull bar) is likely to take
out your arm or sholder. The side bars on the blue R1OT should reduce the impact somewhat - a bit like the side impact bars built into most mainstream
car doors.
I reckon if you got a bit slippy on a roundabout or corner and smacked hard sideways into a kerb it would be enough to do yourself a very nasty
injury.
A chap who worked for me put his scone through a side window in a similar scenario.
That bar is not going to save anything if hit the side other than at car park speeds.
Wearing a helmet would probably be a good idea. I really like the car otherwise, and if I build another from scratch it'll share in my inspiration.
