Thanks Alan! This may sound stupid, but these moulds have been the most difficult thing I have ever done.

I don't know mate but it looks like you've dropped a clanger there, you've got a nice smooth and clear finish, BUT you've left the photographer between the gel coat and the glass-fibre.
Although he doesn't look to upset about it.


Looks good when will you have youre first panels out of them.?

Congratulations on reaching this stage. I am deeply impressed by the evident quality of these moulds.

But being reminded of how much work was neccesary to reach this point just convinces me more that my decision to abandon full bodywork was the right one

Hats off to you Steve they look extremely good - you must be on a massive buzz seeing them finished and being close to geting body panels from them.

I'll confess, this was/is my first fiberglass mould project, And contrary to what everyone else told me about learning on something small and simple I just dove in (to the deep end) and tackled it. I can't tell you how many times I felt like just binning the whole thing! But I didn't - and I think that's due to one of my main weaknesses! I simply do not quit. ever. So there you have it, it's fear of failure that has gotten me this far!

From here on out the process should be fairly simple. This next week I will lay up the first body. Actually I am going to chopper gun the first body. It is going to be used for fitment to the chassis and I am sure it'll get dinged and banged around. I'll also use it to show what areas of the moulds have been overlooked (if any) so that I can go back in and work any of those out. Finally it is going to be used to prototype the landings between the body sections. So theres certainly more work ahead. I'm not done YET!

Thank you one and all for you kind words, the motivation I get from you is one of the joys of making this thing.

Hold on too them like gold dust, they have got too be better than any CV, top job, I know for sure I could not produce anything too that standard.

Is the first body going to be made with Vinylester Resin or are you thinking of going with the cheaper stuff?

Hey Scuzz, good to see you here! The first body will in fact be made out of chop strand. Thats the quickest and cheapest way to get a body out. Since this first body will be used to prototype the headlamp buckets, devise hinging schemes and generally be roughed up a bit, I figured that it would not need to be made for lightest weight or greatest strength.
