Naahh, THIS is the ultimate middy engine!

p.s. neither of those men are me, it was the only 917 engine photo I could find

gazza285 - 27/11/06 at 06:58 PM

Just a shame that even at that engines best it was beaten by what was then a 13 year old Ford engine that can trace it's ancestry directly back to the Mk1 Cortina precrossflow Kent engine.

Nah, I can;t find it at the moment,

but there's a bike derived V16 (4 r1's) produced by some company. that would be my choice, light weight car and the best sound ever

...is someone going to punch me in the face when I mention the Cadillac Northstar engines?

In the Cadillac STS-V this engine (supercharged version) delivers almost 470Hp. The NA version is good for 320Hp. There are lots of goodies available for this engine as well. (check out CHRF) In the US this engine can be sourced pretty cheap... It's already transversely mounted in most applications as well..

No that's a nice engine though not as nice as a lexus 1uzfe, which doesn't put out anything scary in stock ECU trim, but when you trhow that away, and give it some revs or boost you've quickly discovered what "the dark side" really means....

piston and rod set will secure a 800hp on a the stock engineblock and heads when upgraded to ARP rod and maincap bolts (6 for each cap) you'll be able to 4 figure power numbers without to much trouble.

in other words it's very very tough. and build like a brick.

The northstar engine is normaly mounted in length of the car and driven on the rear so an transaxle box should be found, mind you that the company you've mentioned uses Offroad Medeola transaxle boxes which are freckin expensive.

there aint many people useing them, I don't know why, but there must be something
