over christmas have had crap news of my best mate dying who helped me build my kitcar. we were in the process of going to rebuild over winter with new engine. but here is the problem. david was the machanic and me the monkey. now i dont know which engine mates with the type 9 box. curently running 1600cvh producing 135bhp at the wheels, but wanted to go to 2 litre lump.now i dont no wether to use twin webbers or injection where david would have been able to put me wright. could anyone give me a guide thank you.
thats a real shame to hear about chap. in regards to your engine problem, I think probably all ford engines will bolt to your type 9 as its a
standardised pattern, Im using a 2l zetec blacktop engine, with a custom manifold and bike throttle bodies, but if your car has already passed SVA you
could go carb or injection. Various people can offer there opinions, but mine is that the zetec is a reasonably modern solution, though a pinto could
also be used. Zetec-cat.co.uk might give you a better idea of the way it all goes in.
Hope this helps
Matt
thank you for your reply, with the zetec what is the power output. plus are the bike carbs hard to fit , also can the flywheel be lightend.

You may get a better response in the engine section, rather than the middy bit. Zetec power is roughly 110-130 bhp, but can be more. Bike carbs are easier to fit to anything, just requires the correct manifold and jetting. The 1.8 flywheel is the lightest production one, but am unsure how much it can be lightened.
2 litre zetecs are 130bhp. The zx9r bike carbs iv got are jetted to give a 2 litre 160-170bhp. Itl bolt straight to your type 9, The 1.8 flywheel
is lighter and you will need a 1.8 escort fiesta zetec water pump so it turns the right way... If your lacking ground clearance the escort sump is
shallower also. This is correct for the silver tops..
The black tops are different, you will need a pulley arrangement to make the water pump turn correctly.
The 2 litre silver tops can be had for 200 quid or less. Just clean it up and slap it straight in. Unless its done over 150k i wouldnt bother
rebuilding it as theyr not that cheap to do. Then bike carbs and megajolt for the ign. Easy.
Sorry to hear about your mate,. Cant be easy..
