bout time too, working for a living is not good for the project. that and this fiberglassing takes bloody ages!

heres some pics as usual-

this is the first partition to make a split in the mould. it is just a piece of ally bent and shaped to the body curves and held im place with plasticine.

and here is the first section laid up and partition removed. it still needs reinforcing under the overhang as i couldnt put layers on very easily upside down.

and here is the finished mould with some steel reinforcement to stop it being so floppy.

and the inside of the mould. it still needs some trimming and polishing and waxing and more polishing which i can do while im waiting for another delivery of fiberglass supllies. ive used about £150 of fiberglass so far!

I've just returned from the garage after a few hours of fibreglassing but on quite a different task!
And now to hi-jack your thread....
where's a good place to buy FG online?
I bought some from the local boatyard and got my ar5e ripped off so I've been looking on Ebay at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/fibreglass-shop and

Do they seem reasonable?

i use cfs as in that other topic and have alwasy been happy.
those ebay prices arent that bad before postage, but thats where youll lose out i think. id go with cfs.

too bad you're on the other side of the pond, or I'd have you do one up for me ath the same time.

dont know at this point to be honest, fiberglassing is not my trade. nor is anything to do with cars for that matter, but who knows what the future holds.
i would probably consider selling the whole thing as a package to a good kitcar company if the price was right. but like i said at this point i dont know. at the moment it is just a hobby as a one off for my own use.

This is a great start and you are going great guns! Goodness, you don't waste time do you?


Definitely not trying to spoil the love-fest atmosphere, but what you will find is that the moulds you have made will quite possibly be too thin to use more than a couple of times before the heat cycling will warp them or the gelcoat starts to fail. They should be perfectly fine for a couple of pulls though! So you will be fine for a one-off. And then later you can make a commercial quality set of moulds if you get lots of interest.
