Hi ,
Anybody have a car with a mid mounted A series engine (GTM, Blitz, Terrapin etc) that has a solid, quick gearchange?
Mine is not so good (not very precise and quite slow) so looking for ideas.
Pics, advice greatfully received.
Thanks.
I built a buggy with a mini subframe/engine at the rear, used a solid linkage bent underneath the engine. The gearlever was the standard lever which was stripped and rebuilt to change the reverse position. The gear change was quite positive.
Not A-series, but I use push-pull cables for shifting a mid-mounted Honda Prelude assembly.

I have a couple of GTMs, the 'standard' gtm linkage is reasonable but only if you have lots of engine/gearbox steadies fitted (otherwise
engine tends to move instead of finding the gear).
I made a similar linkage for my A-series powered single seater.

Thanks minitici,
I might try this approach.
As you say its all about removing lost motion.
