I just noticed that Alan B has made some absolutely stunning progress on Meerkat!
http://www.desicodesign.com/meerkat/Bodywork%203.htm#bottom
Alan, dude! That is soooooo sweeeet! The new body design is a hit with me!
Very muscular, flows extremely well from front to back, and it looks like is going balls to the wall even while standing still. Very Impressive.

Thanks Steve, glad you can see where I'm going with it through all the dust and mess...
Not always easy to know if you are going the right direction...your affirmation helps a lot......
Working on the front at the moment and would like to have the new plug ready before the year end.....
BTW, the use of drywall filler only, no bondo, is a big breakthrough...it is soooooooooooo much quicker to work with, even allowing for the drying
time......you just have to put bits on in different places and keep going back when it dries...
Thanks for the big thumbs up...
You have all this fun to come...
Alan,
looking good, keep up the good work!
Ned.
Cheers Ned,
It is encouraging as it is actually starting to resemble my avatar....
If you look hard.....LOL

Thanks Pete,
Whether I've actually been able to do it will be open to some interpretation I guess. There will be some differences, and it's easy to see
how real cars don't look exactly like concept cars...
However, I have tried to be faithful to concept shape, and I'm certain it will be a huge improvement from it's first iteration.....
Thanks for the encouragement and support..
Minor update just posted...shows the front a bit more...
Same link as Steve posted.
Alan,
I figure those bits are still 'work in progess'
When you've finished the bodywork are you going to make some moulds up from it for future spares?
Ned.
Ned,
What is shown is the making of the new plug (or buck) from which the new moulds will be made......it is not the actual bodywork at all (although the
fact that is made from the first body is an easy assumption to make)...
All I'm creating is basically a full size model of the actual finished body shape (more or less), and that can almost be made of anything (within
reason)...after the moulds are pulled it will be destroyed....yikes.
Hope this clarifies things.
destroy them after all that effort?! Those fumes must be worse than o thought!!! I couldnt destroy them even if they dropped on my balls...
Don't worry it's only the plug that get's destroyed...
It will have served it's purpose...if I need new moulds I'll make a new plug from the moulds by laying up an extra thick set of
mouldings....
Does that make sense?
Alan,
That makes perfect sense, I was being a bit thick and thought you might have just been modifying the original bodywork kinda on the fly to become the
second version, didn't think enough to figure out you'd make moulds from that one to knock out some 'lighter' versions!!
cheers,
Ned.
Ned,
No problem, sometimes I make too many assumptions....... I need to stop and clarify now and then...
It helps me too...
Looking good Alan.
Nice to see you making progress again.
Are those front wheel arches going to be open at the rear?
Terry
Terry, thanks.
Yes the front arches are open at the rear as on the avatar, but will not be open to the tyres. I'll probably vent the rad out of the arches...not
100% sure yet though..
Looks stunning Alan!
Ted
Thanks Ted...let's hope the real thing is close to the concept....
