I ended up welding 3mm strips to tap into using #10-32 (about M5) button heads...I will be using stainless ones when they arrive.

Very neat work Alan and I also see you have painted the chassis!

Thanks Martin.

I was very pleased how well the Ali formed around the tube...just a a few wacks with a rubber mallet after screwing it down and it conformed quite well.

As for the painting...wow did I really weld that many tubes in?.....it seemed to take forever....but, yeah, done now...final build can now progress.

I am just waiting for my fuel tank to be made and I will be ready to start cleaning up my chassis and painting it.
I've been waiting 3 weeks for it

Oooh! pretty! I want to see more.

BTW- off topic Alan. (no need to answer in this thread) The project with your uprights that you sold me finally is rolling and I have photos. You will be suprised to see what it has become. I'll start a new thread to show ya.

Anyways, your uprights turned out superb and the customer and I really like them. Light and simple! Thanks!

Steve, I'm intrigued....especially dying to see how the uprights worked out....
