Check the first letters of the engine number and look it up on Burton Powers engine tables.

I checked mine on their table and it matched the data from Ford.

hi just checked on burton power .my engine number starts with H which says it is a 90-91 but my engine is brand new so still no wiser. thanks any way.

Hmmmmm. Confusing H looks like a 1987 or 1968 build, neither of which tally with any zetec manufacture dates. Might need to talk to the place you bought it to see if they have stamped a new number on it. Where was the number stamped? Was it on the block on the starter motor side right at the rear of the engine where it meets the bellhousing?

yes it looks like its beign stamped with new number H81061 on the side where the bellhouseing meets

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the silver and black top engines and what sort of power they have?

New engines from Ford do not have an engine number. Dealers are supposed to stamp the number from the OLD engine during an engine change.

Go down the scrappy and find a number from a pre 95 car. Job sorted.

what about the number whats already on the engine. and if i can get a engine number from scrappy pre 95 will i still have the emisions to worry about
