one of the past threads on a new home built middy got me thinking, the design of the frame was quite angular and I thought, Hmm looks as though it
would be faceted much like the first generation stealth
so I did a quick and easy 3d model to see how I thought it might look.
been thinking I might just do a simple version of this, basic tube frame, body would be strait forward, since it is all just flat surfaces, 1+1
seating (much like a fighter cockpit) If I did go ahead with it, it would be more of an art car that a racer or daily driver.
My tastes would be more in the aston martin/porsche range, but still thought this looked neat and If I could do it for cheap, it might be fun.
I'm thinking I might want to lose the front wing and change the shape of the nose, but imagine this passing you on the Highway,
not much of a realistic design but it'd be good for reaction, flat black paint and a turbine engine would finish the package off.
Looks good. But youŽll need a rear wing for the grip
nice!
to keep the line a good design of rear diffuser might remove the need for a spoiler
if the body was made of a 'radar dead' material it would be interesting to see how the speed traps reacted to it
the idea was to make it look like it was radar dead, as to whether it really was or not, I guess its not terribly important.
the main drive behind this concept is the reaction of those who see it.
style wise, not really what I'd call beautifull. but I do think its "neat"
as far as functionality of the spoilers goes, the body should act as a wing, but even still I don't intend to track it, and I definatly
won't be driving it on the street above 150kmph
for drive train I was thinking I'd use an audi fox as a base (ultra cheap) so not like it'd be very powerfull, if I decided that it could
use a little more oomph or a throatier sound I have a crossflow 2.0l I could stick in it.

With a shape like that it deserves to be powered by a bike engine!
A real screamer with twin tail pipes out through the rear panel!
Mmm, definately needs a big rear wing on it.

ya a bike engine would derfinatly be neat but cost prohibitive for me.
I've been scouting Ebay for turbine engines, not likely I'd go that route, but would be uber-cool If I did manage to fit it with one.
Imagine this thing starting up with that high pitched turbine whine, or the paint on the side of your car blistering as I pass you.
Dont see any pods for the AMRAAM's or heatseekers, mind u a gatling under the back would be effective for traffic cars too ROTFLMAO, know
someone with a gas turbine if ur daft enough though.
Shug.
Hey if you're giving the turbine away, I'll pay for shipping, and yes I'm daft enough.
Oh wait a minute, shipping from the UK would kill me. hmm anyone a little more local have a turbine that thay'd donate to a worthy cause?

scouting ebay is a whole lot different than bidding. I've got a server to pay for befor I can think about a turbine engine.
turbine would be neat, but not really feasible. If I do build it I'll run the 2.0l crossflow engine (vw) and if I stumble across a deal on a
turbine engine when I have the extra cash, I might just do it, but not likely in the mean time.
of course another idea could be electric motivation, very stealth.
but electric power is expensive, heavy and very little power.
a couple new pictures with a tail wing added
click the pic for a larger version
I couldn't just tack on a standard wing, but the design I came up with seems to fit the theme
how about folding the rear wing down to match the shape of the rear of the car? I think that might look rather effective.

the rear wing is actually tippe up at the same angle as the back of the car slopes down.
I thought about paralelling the two surfaces, but decided that following the example of the stealth fighter with the dual tail wings would be better,
tiping the angle down a little more.
Daft thought .... how do you get in? I realise you've only just had the idea but those sides are quite high and deep. If you keep them I guess they'd add a lot of strength but it would certainly be a clamber to get over them.
plan was to reinforce them to take the weight of a person, and use anti skid pad for a step.
top will open like a fighter cockpit.
tried military surplus for a cheap turbine? don't you guys have an 'aircraft graveyard' somewhere in Arizona? I'm sure
there'll be a coupla turbines kicking about there ...
Steve.
I'm actually locatewd across the line in Canada, our military surplus consists of 30 year old cans of beans.
well eat lots of beens, light a match and .....
your own jet engine
Try this link out for size: home made jet-engines. He's written a book as well!!

I've actually looked into homebuilt jet engines before, problem is they only make enough power to move a scooter along, and the scooter has to
have a big bottle of propane strapped to the side.
if I have enough room above the tranny, I may build one and install it there just for effect.
