Look at this picture from http://www.hackedgadgets.com
It's a 1 Gbyte hard drive from about 20 years ago. The hand on the right of the picture is holding a modern 1 GByte SD memory card...
It's both wonderful and scary how technology is moving on, isn't it!
When I first saw it I thought rear brake disc and seperate handbrake caliper set up from a lambo!
it amazes me that my mobile phone has more processing power, and more storage than my dads first PC from 1986
and that the old spectrum had more than the apollo moon mission rocket.
The one on the right is normal SD card yes? I have a 1GB micro SD card which is about a third of the size of the one on the right I'd never seen one before i got my new phone last week!! Just imagine the size of them in a few years time

The first commercial computer I worked on (IBM 1401) was in 6 rack-sized cabinets - 4 tape drives and a CPU - memory was 4K.
The bigger brother (7070) had 6 tape drives and a console and boasted 16K memory.
And there were 3 resident IBM engineers (in suits and ties) to keep it all running
