Zetec water pump.
In theorey on my 2lt I should be needing a new water pump, however I'm not convinced mine is the same layout as the ones I saw at stoneleigh at the weekend.
The water pump drive is central on mine and on the ones I saw they were over to the right. Its out of a 2.0 lt 4x4 mondeo 94 if that helps.

Yours is a silvertop engine. Water pump should be changed for one from a 1.8 escort silvertop zetec. All the ones I saw at Stoneleigh were blacktop zetecs and keep their waterpumps but add an idler to run in the opposite direction.

That what I thought but wasn't 100% convinced.

As you state thats a mondeo engine the water pump will need to spin anti-clockwise so you will indeed need a pump from a 1.8 escort or fiesta rs1800 where they spin clockwise. Be sure and check on the escort pump tho not all of them spin clockwise but all the rs1800 fiesta's do
