Few update pics as im bored.
Been a little busy with the mongoose, got both engines fitted and the car back on its wheels. I needed to have it rolling as i have started to dig out
the pit in my garage. Fu*k me its not easy. got about knee deep so far and my back is killing. 6inch of hard core, 10 inch of soil then the rest is
clay and rocks. not easy.
Forgot how bloody low this car is.

Looks good. Just be careful re the pit in terms of ventilation..... nasty place for flammable / noxious gases to collect...

I still smile every time I see this car as there's a lot about it which clicks with me.
Yes the engines are weighty, but they're simple and relatively strong. Whatever way you slice it, it's still going to be 274bhp.
If the traction is good, initial acceleration off the line should be scorching.
The trailing links in the rear suspension should help ?
Any engineer type people choose to contribute ?
I remember seeing an older westfield many years ago and the trailing arms had been made very long to avoid axle tramp.
If the mongoose can be made to have inherently good traction plus the LSD it'll be a corker.

Exactly the same as me - When it was up for sale, I would of loved to have bought it, and glad that the build is now progressing!

Thanks for the nice comments guys. The only thing holding up the build is money which i'm sure most of you lot understand. I'm really glad
i didn't sell. The day a guy came to view it i changed my mind and bought an engine on ebay that night lol. Im really looking forward to driving
it once its done. next summer is a realistic finishing time i think.

Try and get some ventilation in that pit, as well as a catch basin for liquids you didn't intend to get down there. Worked in those things as a
young mechanic, outlawed here in Canada.

Outlawed, wow. never thought they were that bad, worked in pits under cars lots of times and never had any issues. This is the first time ive had
people talking about issues with pits.
I plan to use a big pond liner type plastic in it before i concrete the bottom and brick up the side to try and keep out any water ingress. I will
probley put a fan in the pit and turn it on a few mins before i use it to blow out and lerking gases.

Just out of interest... (i'm planning on a pit when i build mine) are there any rules and regs with them?
Any strengthening needed on the walls to stop the floor collapsing in around it?

No regs involved
Hopefully you will be above the water table as they are a bugger to keep dry.
Slope the floor with a bowl at one end, makes it easier for emptying.
Never work in it with the engine running unless the exhaust is vented outside.
Stick a couple of brick piers in the middle.
Make it longer than the car
There is a company that makes fibreglass pit liners
