Duratec and FWD gearboxes

Hi all

I have a few questions which I just wanted to confirm from trawling t'internet if I may please as I can't seem to find definitive answers.

Firstly, the 2.0 Duratec HE with 145hp - is this found in post 2001 Mondeo's as well as the Fiesta ST and "new" Focus (although not sure of years) ?

What other cars is this engine found in ?

I believe there is also a 1.8 - is the gearbox housing bolt pattern the same on them all ? What cars/years is the 1.8 found in - the Focus and Mondeo ?

The gearboxes....

As far as I can tell the Mondeo comes with MTX75, the Focus with MTX75 and the Fiesta/Ka/Puma with IB5. Is that right ?

The ST, though, is listed with an IB5+ - is that the same as an IB5 ?

And the million dollar questions -

Assuming the IB5+ is different to the IB5, is it any stronger ?

If I get an IB5 from a Fiesta/Ka then will any 2 litre Duratec HE engine have the correct gearbox bolt pattern and what clutch/flywheel do I need ?

many thanks

Paul

The IB5 is also used with the 1.6 Zetec SE engine in the Focus.

the duratec has the mazda bolt pattern, but I think the 1.4 & 1.6 are still rebranded zetec SE engines (so ford 4cly pattern)

the 2.0 zetec and diesel focus/mondeo's also have an MTX75 box, so it'll have a ford 4cly patten

Hi

Thanks for replies - I saw the burtonpower stuff and as far as I can make out from other research, the Zetec and Sigma both fit to the IB5.

The Duratec in the Mondeo/Focus has the MTX75 more heavy duty box.

As far as I can tell though the IB5 and Duratec came together in the Fiesta ST....2.0 148 hp version.

I think the 2003 on Mondeo has the same Duratec.

People want more cash for a Fiesta Duratec than a Mondy one it would seem. So I really wanted to know if I could bolt on a mondy engine to a Fiesta gearbox.

I'm not so sure as there doesn't seem to be any mention of on the ford performance type forums - they are tending to put the Duratec in with its MTX75 still attached....

Hmm - think I might have found the answer.

I think only IB5+ FWD fits the Duratec.

The IB5 only seems to fit Zetec or Sigma engines.....

Anyone confirm please ?

FYI -
Ford has announced that the new six speed on the EcoBoost 1.6 is lighter and more durable than the existing trans.

Can anyone confirm if it is compatible with Zetec SE ?
