J15 Harness Mounts
Does anyone else find the shoulder strap mounts too high? Mine are above my shoulders, clearly not right. This may be exacerbated by my sitting only
a few mms off the floor and having a reclining driving position, or may be I am just too short at 5' 9"? It also does not allow room
between the straps and helmet for a neck brace to fit.
Replacing the mounts with another piece of angle below the chassis rail to mirror the existing ones will not work as the snap-on buckle will dig into
me. I am thinking about adding some brackets to fix the eyes below the chassis rail and facing down. This will mean cutting holes in the reat seat
panel which, of course, is the engine bulkhead. Any better ideas anyone?

Hi David,
You've hit the nail on the head really. I'm 6'1" and use the std Sylva seat squab which I'm quite confident is thicker
than yours and they are absolutely perfect for me.
As you say, dropping the mounting points will be a right royal PITA.
Will taking a "bracket off a bracket" keep the scrutineers happy?

Use Schroth harness which allows you to 'wrap' the belt round the cross-bar. No mount to dig in.

I'll send you an email with what I am proposing. Posting sketches on here is not one of my strong points!
Jeff
Thanks for the suggestion but a) I already have an expensive enough set of belts without buying some more and b) the wrapping method would still not
bring the strap low enough.

I am 5'10" and with GRP seats the height is about ideal. GRP seats bring their own problems but might be worth considering.
