So how realistic is a mid-engined car?
I was reading one of the magazines this week which had the Sylva Riot and I really like the idea of a mid engined car. Given the number of transverse
engine donors available it seems like a good way to go. However, I'm put off by the seeming lack of good plans. I'm by no means an
engineering expert so would need some good chassis plans to follow. What's the best available?

Yes that's me, see my sig. It shows how to design (not actually build) a mid-engine sports car based upon commonly available FWD powerplants.
I'm starting in on the next project now, and the next book. This one will be a cookbook, explaining exactly how to build it, but you'll
have to wait for it. You can always read on the development process at kimini.com, clicking on the Midlana link.

I know I'm a noob here, and none of you know who I am, but I'm designing and building a mid engined car at the moment. Using the engine
and box from an alfasud, and suspension and steering setup from a haynes roadster.
I have no idea if its going to work, but its fun to make.
Oh and its single seat. The plan is to make it a bit like a road legal lotus type 20.

They make those wheels where I work.
Should look excellent when you finish it.
