Hi Guys...

Thanks for the concern.

We got away very lightly on my side of the state...a little breeze and some rain.

Others were not so fortunate, sadly..

Again, thanks for the thoughts.

Alan

I am glad that you and yours are ok Alan.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and have been through 4 big storms in my lifetime. Hugo was the worst. During Hugo the house we were sheltering in tore completely in half... We never found the rest of it. Luckily we were in a fortified basement at the time. The sounds of the house ripping to shreds above us was quite frightening.

But houses falling down is cause they are all wood and very little else.
Here they used to build proper houses then they moved over to timber frames and lighter construction. Some time in the future a wind storm will wipe these out.

I was in florida for andrew, and my grandparents "proper" built house made from brick and mortar was blown over just like every other wood framed house in the area, the only differences were that 1, it was easier for everyone else to go through the rubble as they didnt have a pile of bricks to throw around, and 2, our house didnt turn into large flying toothpicks.

I wasnt actually in Florida when Andrew hit, I was evacuated and wound up staying in Atlanta until the storm passed.

We're in the middle of our worst storm since '68. 200 kmh (120mph) winds, 14m swells, snow down to sea level, 6m floods, tornados, the capital city isolated by slips, floods, snow and high winds - all in one day in a country about the size of old blightey (England, about the size of Sth California?). Not quite Locosting weather....

What's with the weather, eh? Roll on summer, I say (a few more months to wait "down under"
