Elite Delta Build Thread
Hi Guys,
Figured i'd put a Elite Delta build thread up on here.... Bit of background information first:
The car started out as a Global GT, However we had numerous issues with regards to lack of space in engine bay for a modern BEC.. Engine moving on the
cradle due to that being the only chain tensioning. Not being able to get enough cooling in. Suspension geometry pretty poor so we decided that for
the 2012 Bikesports season we would build our own car using a few bits of the Global.
Same track as the global but 400mm longer wheelbase, this 400mm would be in the engine bay
The parts we are using off the Global GT are:
Heavily modifying the Bodywork
Shocks
Brakes
Uprights
Bits of the rear axle
Steering with a few modifications
We've had a few delays over the winter with manufacturing of the chassis however its all now coming together.
I picked up the chassis a week ago. Did all the ally panneling last week and got the engine in.
Fuel tank went in yesterday, I am hoping i've got enough fuel bits and bobs to plumb that all in.... One of the jobs for this week!
Got the cooling all in and plumbed up in the week... Just need to mount Header Tank to finish that.
Oil cooler will be mounted tomorrow, Just waiting on accusump and oil take off plate of Andy Bates, should be here mid week! Then oil system will be
done.
Rest of weekend i have been working on electrics.... All my zx10 diagrams have got different ECU pin outs to my loom.... Very strange... Andy bates
thinks that they have changed pin outs as colours are all still same and wiring at each sensor is the same...
Axle is in place, although it needs a bit of modding to allow adjustment....
Rear Bodywork rubbed down, now just to rub down centre section as bodywork is going off in a weeks time to have some more alterations done.
Plan is to build up bit of the wiring and more plumbing during the week, then suspension and fibreglass floor over the weekend as the bodywork guys
want the chassis for a couple of days next week to do the mods to allow for the inboard suspension.
All good fun! Apart from the electrics...
Anyway first race is 9 weeks today
Here are some pics:

Rear Bodywork back together, you can see it ended up being cut up a bit more to get right, needs some more sanding though:

Well Done ed, getting there slowly.
Loads of mods to the bodywork to get it on, but will be worth it hopefully.

Not too bad a week in the garage.... Made a good start on the wiring, even though its all over the bedroom floor and doesnt look like much yet, its
coming along....
Floor is out of the mould and the chassis is sitting on it. Rear diffuser looking very good. Splitter also out of the mould. Oh and bodywork trial fit
today and its starting to look like a proper race car with alot better proportions
Now its all dropped off at Bodywork people so wont see any progress for a little bit as they do the final modifications and then paint it.
Hope to get the suspension on it next weekend, Steering rack on and the fuel system done.
8 weeks to first race

Managed to also get the wiring loom pretty much done and onto the car, hope to finish that off this weekend and get it all rolling, oh and also fit

Spent Thursday to now sanding the body down, what a massive job, Front has had its primer, rest will be primed this week, hopefully a top coat towards
end of week.
Bit of a tits up moment with the floor/rear diffuser so had to do some mods with that. However the car now has 2 rolling wheels, firewall in, bulkhead
in, some of the fuel system in. So its gradually getting there, from next week i'll be on it full time.

Been flat out the last 2 weeks on the car. Its pretty much done, however we aren't racing this weekend as haven't had time to dyno it and
want to do some testing first.
It started up and ran on Wednesday which was a very good feeling.
Jobs left to do:
Catches on Bodywork
Rear Axle tensioning device fitting
Rear Wing mounting
Some of the venting yet to complete.
Bleed brakes
Wire up accusump and transponder.
Fit rain light
Not all the cables are fitted either.
So a few days next week should see it done, hoping to dyno end of next week ish and then get it out testing.

This looks really good, I did follow your build a bit when I first heard about it (through Global/Bike sport)
I went Anglesey today.... watching RGB, Bikesport etc, it will be great to see your car on track... those Spires are doing quite well, someone needs
to give them a battle ;-)
