Was one of my planned projects for when ive finished. If you want any measurements (rough) just ask cause we've got a scooby.

I was thinking about this, but I'm not sure I understand all the implications of converting a 4wd box for a 2wd application.
Isn't there a central diff in the 4wd box?
Wouldn't it have to be welded into a locked state once the rear ouput shaft was disconnected? Or am I just completly misunderstanding how this
works?

yea idea is to weld center diff or sum 1 came up wit idea o runnin a chain drive off the tail piece to a prop shaft and an upside down diff at
front
measure ments arent prob engine and box are on floor and suspension will need to b made to fit fiesta shell wouls want it lookin fairly normal from
outside

Or you could get a gearbox off a 2wd scoob! Then use an LSD out of a 4wd scoob STi.

GO for it, I for one am interested in what you need to do to make it work and how well it works when it's done.
Low mileage 4wd subaru driveline with engine is relatively easy and cheap to get in the States as a JDM import, which makes the proposition
interesting.

The Saker RSC does
exactly that - with the WRX H4 or Outback H6

I'm not 100% sure about the way it's performed on the Subaru box, but on a Mitsubishi 4G63 AWD transmission, when converting it to FWD
only, the following is done:
You weld the output shaft side of the center diff (shaft towards the transfer case) to the center diff and remove the transfer case output shaft.
Remove the insides of the center diff and the shaft towards the passenger fender. Remove the viscous coupling, then plug the transfer case shaft hole
with a freeze plug and JB weld (or weld in an aluminum plug).
