Who peeked in my sketch book!??!
Was having a browse of http://www.xtr2.net/ and found this photo of the chassis.
The resemblance to my frame design (notably the side pods and dash area) is startling!
I suppose there's only so many ways to skin a cat but still....
I think I'll just take it as an endorsement of my design

Ya know, I used to see car designs I thought were a little too similar too. Given two humans as passengers, and that it will be mid-engine, and
constructed of mild-steel tubing, it "sets the cast." That is, there really aren't many ways to build one given the same
components, and yes, they're going to look very, very similar.
Having said that, after looking closely at the two, I see a ton of differences. Virtually none of the tubes are in the same place. A vaguely similar
outline, but very different tube placement makes me think no one copied anything.

my design is quite similar too, but different cos its more of a lemans replica than a seven, but its basicaly the same design parrameters and same
design concepts, hence pretty much the same end product.

Having re-read my original message and some replies I suppose I should clarify.
I don't think there's any copying going on (in either direction!). It's just that, after looking at so many mid-engined chassis
that take a completely different approach to mine, it's a bit of a shock to see one that's quite similar. I was really starting to doubt
the validity of my design approach. That said, Project LMP's chassis has a very similar nose and side pod
design although he doesn't tie the pods back into the scuttle or roll hoop, leaving a 'ledge' at the sides. I need to tie mine in
at the back because the strut suspension puts loads into the chassis fairly high up. Please note that the partial chassis image above is an old one
and everything aft of the seat back should be ignored.
So, not accusing, just (pleasantly) surprised by the similarities.

Dominic, I notice a fairly large difference. In yours your feet are in an area behind the wishbones, in the XTR the feet are all the way between the
wishbones. I have read horror stories of wishbones dislodged in accidents and becoming spears that pierce legs. Also, there is very little
crumple-zone with your legs so far forward. It is something that would definitely concern me.
So in that sense, I think your design is even better!

third now)

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

There's no way in the world I'd put my feet forward of or amongst the wishbones The human ankle is NOT a crumple zone! On mine, the
radiator will be mounted leaning forward in front and will be the first thing to go in a head on, followed by the suspension box area. If
there's room I may still try to drop a spare wheel in the middle of that front box - probably only fit a space-saver in there though. The
battery will definitely be on the floor in there in a futile attempt to shift the CG forward a little
