I'm familiar with the builder from the TDI forums.
He is running a 1.9L ALH with a Cummins inline pump, and an 82mm turbo. Somewhere around 70psi of boost.
He works in a shop that builds supped up American diesel pickups... 1,ooo hp pull trucks.
His biggest trick is a custom made cast iron head and a block girdle that sandwiches the block between the head and re-enforced oil pan using external
bolts.(stock ALH engines will lift the heads and blow the gaskets at 30 psi or so)

Biggest weak point....transmissions

Partly I like it because it's something different to see.
As you say FWD transmissions aren't generally built for monster BHP, let alone the torque it must be generating!
