IVA photos for comment
Hello All,
After 3 1/2 years building I have finally got my IVA booked on 14th November.
I have put some photos in my photo archive (sorry I'm not sure how to attach photos here).
Please have a look (pstirz) and let me know if I've missed anything obvious.
Any comment will be very appreciated.

Just had a look- nice tidy build overall.
But...
1/ those studs/nuts on the front of your exhaust can will fail the radius test.
2/ the base of your rear view mirror will probably also fail.
3/ has the underside of your dash got the required (19mm?) radius?
4/ The heatshrink on your track rod looks a little thin; presume you can still feel the edge of the nut?- might pass dependant on tester.

Question: Without necessarily knowing what I am talking about, does your electronic speedo/ indicators comply. mph/hr or km/hr marked on display when
it is switched on?
Not sure rear radius on exhaust complies?

Are this side repeaters ok on the scuttle ? Most are on the front or rear arches........

I will checkout the nuts on the silencer, and base of rear view mirror. I have copied the side repeaters position from the Haynes Roadster in Kit Car
magazine, I just hope they are OK.
The rad on dash is grater than 19mm and the speedo is mph (this might need fine tuning on the test as I've not been able to check the
accuracy).
I also double check the heat shrink.

have you trimmed the holes in the seats where the seat belts
pass through ?
 
he will fail normal u rubber

Someone else's image , this is where we put ours, it was the testers recommendation after ours failed .

looks nice
one question, (but I dont think it would be an iva issue)
are you going to rivet the top of the steering column cover to the bulkhead?

actually, a second point,
the battery poss lead looks like it may chaff on the bulkhead edge, (I see the spirel wrap there,) but better if its moved away from the edge

This is really useful...!
I will trim the seat holes. I did dress them with a file but trim will be better.
I'm not intending to rivet the steering cover as it is removable to get to the pedal box.
Good spot on the battery lead I will put some rubber edge trim on the bulkhead.

Yep it's a whopper.
It was a freebie off my mates transit. I will go smaller next time and save a bit of weight.

Doesn't look to bad.
The repeaters on the scuttle will Fail IVA. You need to fit them to the outside of the cycle wings and place reflectors over the location of your
scuttle repeaters. Reason being you can't see the repeater from 5m behind the car at (can't remember the angle) but its obsured by the
rear arch.
Can't tell from the photo but are the edges of your centre tunnel radius'd? If not you need to edge them with channel rubber.

Only things I can think of are, is there a second fixing on the mushroom insert?
How many fixings on the roll bar stays. Ashg failed on only having 1 per bar.

Looking good. Good luck for the iva, got mine on the 6th.
For the exhaust/silencer joint I had the same problem on my car. I got a dog bowl, hole in the bottom the same size as the exhaust pipe. Then cut a
slit across it. Inside the bottom I pop riverted to bits of ALU channel. The bowl is then fitted over the pipe, and a jubilee clip used to hold it
onto the pipe. Edge trim it and job done .

Looks good. A nice clean build and well presented will put the tester at ease right away. ( they do see some sh*te) and may make him a bit more
compliant where he finds a " grey area".
Dome nuts on the silencer to pipe flange.
Mines passed sva ( not Iva) with the side repeaters on the scuttle but as already said it depends on the tester on the day sometimes and how vigilat
they are.

Just thoughts that others can perhaps comment on as well but:
I) can the test sphere get at the front top ball joints. Someone on here failed because the ball joint casing failed the radius requirements
ii) side repeaters have to be seen from an angle of 5 degrees from the side of the car, so yours will fail because of the rear wheel arches. Most
people seem to put theirs on the rear arches, but I put mine on the front ones as I have a Viento and the rears are too far back
iii) You still have the windscreen wiper column switch but you don't have a windscreen. The tester might regard this as a fail on the grounds
of not meeting 'must be clear so as not to cause confusion' test under 'identification of controls'. Really not sure about
this though as mine has not been through IVA yet, so someone else who has might have a different view.
I would be interested to find out whether or not the tester lets the base of your rear view mirror through. I have the same one and I'm
thinking that it might pass because he may not be able to get his radius sphere close enough (not tested this yet though).
As per other comments, it looks like a nice tidy build, which is always good for brownie points with the tester. Good luck.

Ball joints and wiper stick
Thanks for your comments.
I have checked the ball joint castings and dressed the sharp edges with a swiss file and checked them with a 2.5 rad gauge.
I have just sent for mini side repeater from CBS and will replace the scuttle ones with reflectors.
I take your point about the wiper stick, I have read similar. I intend to add a screen in time and want to keep it, if possible.
The base of the rear view mirror has had some swiss file treatment too.
Best to expect a first time fail, I just want to limit the failure list......
There is so much to fail on, I'm just going take all your advise and try and enjoy the IVA day.

My IVA tester (Nottingham) said he would fail heatshrink on track rods as it's not replaceable should you do any work on them.
I asked him this over the phone the day before my test. I then replaced my heatshrink with cable gland shrouds.

In the iva manual on p177 it says
'n addition, on M1 vehicles less than 6 m in length, side-marker lamps may be used, if they supplement the angles of visibility requirements of
front position lamps or rear position lamps where the obligatory lamps do not meet. These marker lamps must be fitted as near to the front / rear of
the vehicle as possible and in no case beyond the mid point of the front / rear wheel arch. These lights are not classified as Side
Repeaters'
In my interpretation you can have your scuttle indicators and the little ones in the arch. I'm sure I will be beaten down with a stick and like
to be proved wrong but that is how I see it.

Hi nice looking build, good luck for the test, could I ask what you used to angle your reverse and fog to the vertical plane - are they the standard
nas landrover plinths?

Cant you put some heatshrink neatly
over wiper stick (hide emblems)
if it has no functions, surely there's nothing to test.???

fog / reverse lamp plinths
I bought the light plinths will the angle already on.
Just get them the right way up and they are vertical.

- Might want to add a p clip to secure the plastic conduit next to the battery.
- Make sure you've got a cap/cover over the live terminal on the starter/solenoid.
- Have you radiused the bottom of the gear knob?
- Trust your HT leads comply?
- Got proof of engine age?...
