If i'm reading it all correctly Steve than you first have to buy the LMP,get yourself onto a track, wich has a official timed lap record,hire
some official timers to register your lap time and than hope that your lap time has the smallest percentage margin of all entered times?

You don't have to buy an LMP. For example, renting a car from track-sense is an eligible way to enter. You
don't have to hire official timers either, the idea is that you take part in an event where timing is possible and time keepers are present (and
this doesn't necessarily exclude track-days).
Like every competition there are rules and in order to be eligible for the prize then the rules have to be adhered to, so yes we need officially timed
laps in an LMP.
We are planning to have a car for hire north of the border, too, and hopefully by the time the track-day and race seasons start there'll be a
couple more on the circuits.

Can you tell me when and where the car will be available for this purpose in the Western USA. Preferrably Arizona?
I'll take a shot at it!

I happened to be at Lake Havasu for 4th July a few years ago - it was a complete riot!
I think it was just as 'bad' as Spring Break  Some nice boats!!

Damn right I'll be there! I wouldn't miss the LMP's racing debut for the world!
We're planning an assault on the NASA Super Unlimited class with a be-winged, slick tyred, V8 powered car. If it comes off properly then there
should be two of them, one with a GM engine and the other with a Ford engine.
The official line about Lake Havasu - as far as the wife's concerned - is that I saw some lovely boats! There really were some eye-popping
sights...

As advised i made an enquiry with track sense the company you should be able to rent an LMP from.
They sent me a nice letter with all the info as follows.
Dear Robert,
Thank you for your enquiry, we will be in touch when we have further updates soon if you have selected to receive updates, if not please continue to
visit www.track-sense.com for new developments and prices.
In brief I can confirm that the first track-academy classes will be in time for the start of the 2005 season and the first course is planned for
February 26th at Mallory Park which is just off the M1 near Leicester. The course structure and content will be published in mid December on the
track-sense website. This course will be at a special introductory price of £285 and a booking form is attached to this mail. All track-academy
courses are strictly limited to 12 participants.
The track-club fleet is largely finalised although we are still open to comments and suggestions from prospective members about the content so if you
have a specific recommendation please don’t hesitate to let us know. One amendment still be made on the website is the replacement of the Caterham
R300 with the Turner Auto Design LMP-S recently featured in Evo where it received an excellent review.
track-club will be operated on an annual basis from April to March, for the first year there will be induction days during March and membership will
initially be limited to just 250 people and thereafter a strict ratio of cars to members will be upheld with future track-club paddocks located around
the UK providing additional flexibility for members.
We will be at the Autosport show in January close to the main Autosport stage on stand number 7004 so hopefully you can come and see us there to sign
up although we will be offering a larger reduction in the joining fee for track-club those who sign before the show. Also at Autosport will be the
track-logic data acquisition unit and a demonstration version of the software. Prices will be available shortly and are targeted to be no more than
£1,695 for the base level and £2,695 for the higher level, subject to insurance costs they may be lower.
If you have any specific queries in the meantime or would like to provisionally reserve your place with a deposit or book a place on the first
track-academy course please do not hesitate to contact me directly or mail or post the booking form back to us at the address on the form.
