And me!
I'm also hard at work on a mid-engined car. Front end cortina based, using a Magic Box from Merlin, and rear mounted Mondeo 2ltr zetec power unit.
The Mondeo unit has quite a bit going for it IMO, everything apart from the strut tops and the upper engine mounting is all mounted on a subframe that
Ford have thoughtfully provided.
Should be enough room for a petrol tank between the power unit and the seats, but I'm still a bit concerned about the gearchange though
Donor should be going soon, then I will have enough room to lay the components out and start connecting them together with RHS

John, nice to hear you've gone transverse
More ideas to share!
Have a look at an MR2 gearchange, then you won't be so concerned...it's dead easy to copy/adapt to any FWD unit.
Let's get this section buzzing eh, guys?

I'll try that, Alan, but there aren't many (any) MR2's around here. Actually later Mondeos use a cable change so I might be able to adapt that.

Yes, definitely going to use the front struts at the rear. There's a firm in Sheffield who can make the springs required, fortunately I know a bit
about springs so all I will need to do is send a sample and tell them the free length and pondage I need.
For the benefit of others reading this, (cos Conrod will already know) the Mondeo doesn't need the ARB to locate the suspension, whereas the Escort
does. I will probably disconnect the ARB because I won't be using one at the front
Not sure about the brakes yet. First measuring shows that the caliper bolt spacing is the same as on the Sierra calipers I got from your goodself, so
maybe changing the discs will do it. Will have to do some experiments. Keeping it Ford, yes
