Ford 2 Litre DOHC EFI Engine
Hi all
Can someone tell me what type of engine the Ford 2 Litre DOHC EFI Engine from the sierra is? Eg. Zetec / Duratec / etc.
Also are they good at making high bhp?

None of the above -- think of it as some Pinto bits with a DOHC head --- even the over weight old fashioned lazy Pinto is more suitable for a
Locost.

Its an I4 engine. Same as in the Mk5/6 escort RS2000

What's wrong with the DOHC? in general terms DOHC engines are thought to be better than SOHC engines? Does this not apply to the ford?

the ford dohc is a eight valve heavy
weight that is realy a bit to big for a locost

The DOHC's are wide, tall and heavy. So not especially suitable.
Also there are few tuning parts available for the DOHC, where as there are loads for the SOHC pinto. IIRC the DOHC is about 115 bhp standard, and that
about how it will stay (unless you get hold of an RS2000 engine ). A ported/flowed, fast road cam, twin 45 pinto is about 150bhp ish (depends how
much money you spend.)

115bph ina car weighing around 750KG (with this engine in) that's amighty fun ride!!!
I had the 2.0L DOHC in an old Sierra and it was great but in this, it'll be monsterous!!!
I have the Macsorley 7 +442 so surely the 2.0L DOHC will fit fine won't it (apart fron a bonnet bump for the EFI)

If you put an fse power valve and K&N on it they really shift (pop a bit off the throttle though, bit like a rally type effect)

the dohc is 125 hp.
someone on here has one in a build and it doesnt look too bad.
the unreliability doesnt seem to be a big problem - its caused by people overheating the engine and warping the head.

It is usually head gasket failure that caused the overheating.
