Rear of the chassis pictures
Hi all,
I've put some more pictures of the chassis in my archive, this time it's the rear or the chassis.
Hope these are helpful to all new builders working from the book.
Just need to put the steel plate over the back part, then it's on with the suspension brackets.
Can the wishbone brackets be bought or do they have to be made?
Regards
Nik

Those corner plates are where my roll bar back stays fit.

Thanks Steve,
Thought that might be the idea, can you tell me what the two in the middle of the top rail are for?
Also the small bit of flat plate in the centre behind the diff?

The top two are for the base plates of the two small roll hoops (should you wish to fit them) instead of the large single rollbar.
I believe the welded plate behind the diff is there for extra strengthening should you wish to fit a rear bracket to the diff.

Andy.

MR Perfect, i hope you are not implying that the pic you have posted is anything to do with you???
and the back of that particular car is quite a bit different from the avon book.

I welded a piece of 5mm flat bar all the way across that box section were the roll bar fits.

Viper,
The picture posted was to show what i was describing to Kitlooney1000!
It is the same as one of the diagrams in the new edition of the Avon book that i am working from.
(Chassis section F-F Drg 6.6g)
Can anyone answer the question of wishbone suspension brackets (Bought or made)?
Regards
Nik

Viper
The pictures in the book don't show the steel plate and the extra bracing on the F-F section of the chassis that i am talking about, also they
have box section on the roll bar mounting.
But these are shown in the diagrams.
I can see you have changed the wishbone and shock mounts is this because of a fault with the original or just your way of improving the design?

Nik

The rear end is all designed wrong in the book as the camber is all wrong when the wheels go up and down.
Think Viper has done it the right way!

I know that you get +ve camber as the wheel rises (which is v.bad), but never worked out where the brackets needed to be to fix it.
Might have a play at modeling the suspension this year if I get time.
